🇬🇧 A chilled out, level-headed blind person feeling my way through life!

Hi, I’m Dave. I’m registered blind following the slow deterioration of my sight. I have Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) and Retinal Telangiectasia and now only have light and dark perception.

My career has been influenced by my sight loss, taking me away from a career in the motor industry, down the route of Disability, Accessibility, Awareness and Disability Employment. I work part-time for a small disability focussed charity as a Community Employment Specialist. I am also a business partner in 2 small businesses:
- VIDA Training – providing VI Awareness Training, Consultancy and Employment services
- Disability Equipment Service – a national (UK) website dedicated to the buying and selling of new and used disability equipment.

I’m also married, have 2 children and try and do as much as I can to lead a ‘stereotypical normal’ life. This includes (much to the disbelief of most sighted people) that I do the cooking, laundry (including ironing), wash the car, cut the grass and tend our estate (ha ha).

I’m keen to talk to anyone who is willing to listen; I know little about not much and don’t worry about what I say and to whom! Happy days! 😃
