Endowed Professor of Responsible AI at Michigan State University.

I research AI, social media and the digital economy. I have been a speaker and op-ed writer on social media and algorithmic bias. I have been quoted in and had my articles published in a range of outlets such as AP, BBC, Business Standard, Channel News Asia, the Conversation, El Pais, Fast Company, Nikkei, Newsweek, NPR, Washington Post, Wired and Slate. My peer reviewed publications have received multiple awards from journals and conferences in academic disciplines ranging from information systems, machine learning, management and network science. I consult with startups and companies on Responsible AI, digital transformation and business analytics.

My current research combines machine learning (representation learning, human in the loop ML etc) with social science to study sequential business decisions and AI for public health. I am especially interested in developing bias sensitive methods for responsible and trustworthy AI.

Graduate of IIT Madras, IIM Calcutta and UT Austin. Was at University of Washington, Carnegie Mellon and now a Michigander.
