Seeing the world through my lens inspired by YOUR stories. Hello! I’m Asteway, affectionately known as AJ.

I wanted to take a moment and introduce myself. My life began in Ethiopia 🇪🇹 as an orphan. I was adopted by a Black American woman when I was roughly 10. My exact birthday is a bit of a mystery but I like to joke with my wife that I’m younger than her😀. There are so few photos of my life before age 10. The absence of those photographic milestones was the inspiration and motivation for taking pictures as a college student. I want people to relive memories they otherwise would have missed because they were living the moment. Be encouraged to live while I snap shots.

I realized my passion for brand photography when my wife opened her business. She owns and operates a Reggio Emilia preschool, so proud of her! She always had me at school wide events taking pictures. The images were used for the school’s website, social media, digital media, etc. My wife compelled me to give this a go. She said, “babe you’re really good and I’ll support you every step of the way.” That was enough for me to step out and give it a try.

My time is spent adoring my beautiful wife, traveling, connecting with people, and working with adults with exceptionalities. I’m extraordinarily blessed to have this opportunity to work with incredible innovators.
