COVID-19 made it mandatory for us to recognize the inequality of the world that we live in and rethink ourselves as a society, ensuring that we use solidarity to balance historical gaps and that we provide vulnerable groups with meaningful opportunities. And that we ensure that social justice walks together with environmental stewardship.

I am a Zero Waste implementer and a plastic activist. Through my current role I have designed, and I am implementing a community-based Zero Waste model in Tanzania, promoting socially just and environmentally balanced waste management. Working with low-income communities, I advocate for decentralization of waste management based on the belief that when people are given a good choice, they take it.

I actively advocate for plastic reduction, from production to waste management and for the plastic industry to be responsible for the environmental and climate damage that they produce. I participate in local, regional and global networks bringing African and South American inputs to global conversations and pursuing equality of opportunities in environmental activism in the Global South.

Previously, I have led 8 social businesses in Tanzania selecting business activities through strategic and collaborative decision-making to maximize the strengths of each geopolitical area and group of people targeting income generation. Within 6 years businesses achieved financial self-sustainability. Members gained the opportunity to redefine their social position towards their communities based on their values and skills and overcoming gender, age and income level discrimination.

I created and facilitated an entrepreneurship curriculum for smallholder farmers embracing age, gender and literacy diversity. The methodology was designed to be relevant, matching academic knowledge and practical needs. The curriculum included finances, interpersonal skills, and business literacy and graduated over 100 entrepreneurs.

I am a mom who gives everything that I have to leave my children with a world that is better than the one that I have received from my parents.
