Bio

👋🏻 Hi, I’m Amanda! I’m a Brooklyn-based photographer whose primary interest is in live music and working with musicians. As someone who’s still navigating the world and business side of photography, one of my main goals here on CH is to learn as much as I can and connect with others along the way while providing my own insight whenever possible.

🌉 I grew up in the SF Bay Area where I studied English in college and have a writing practice rooted in poetry. While studying at Mills College, I produced spoken word events and organized monthly poetry slams to highlight creative vibrancy on campus and improve community relations.

🌱 As a vegan of more than sixteen years (yep, I remember when vegan cheese didn’t melt), I’m interested in an intersectional approach to activism. I’m currently putting my English skills to good use as the Editorial Manager for World of Vegan where I write, copyedit, and oversee content going out on a site that reaches millions of people monthly.

🌈 I use they/she pronouns and identify primarily as asexual.

🎓 I am a huge advocate of community college. I graduated from Mills College via City College of San Francisco in 2015 after a rough start at San Francisco State in 2007. I took two years off before transferring to Mills in order to qualify for more financial aid as a 24-year old and it was 100% worth it.

🐈 Cat parent to Aidy Lion. If you’re wondering how my brain works, just know that my cat’s name is a pun based on actress Aidy Bryant from the adaptation of her prior name, Lady. And despite her disgruntled expression in my photo, she’s actually quite the sweet and chill kitty—it’s just not easy taking a self portrait while holding a 13-pound cat with one arm.

💔 In 2018 I experienced the sudden loss of my amazing and wonderfully artistic sister (and only sibling), Monica. I aspire to make her proud and live a life she’d want me to live—fully and without hesitancy. I am always here to chat about the specific grief that comes with losing a sibling.
