Have designed thousands of authentic travels around the globe for clientele that includes author Harlan Coben (Bermuda), actress Rita Moreno (New England fall foliage), TripAdvisor founder Steve Kaufer (Honeymoon in Turkey), and Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard hotelier Mark Snider (Brazil’s Pantanal).

Travel blogger at ActiveTravels.com/blog since 2009. Hired by more than 30 destinations and travel outfitters for Social Media Marketing packages. They include Backroads, Abercrombie & Kent, RIU Resorts, Swiss Tourism, and the Canadian provinces of Ontario, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia.

Travel writer since 1991, penning more than 2,000 stories while traveling to over 100 countries. Worked as contributing editor and columnist for Men’s Journal, National Geographic Adventure, Outside, Washington Post, Yankee, and The Boston Globe.

Author of 9 guidebooks including Outside Magazine’s Adventure Guide to New England and my latest New England in a Nutshell, published the summer of 2020.

Keynote speaker at more than 15 state tourism conferences including stops at Minot, North Dakota, Meridian, Mississippi, and North Platte, Nebraska. Primarily discussed the role a travel writer plays in increasing tourism to your state.

Collaborated with brother, Jim, on the film, Passionada, distributed by Samuel Goldwyn Films and starring Emmy Rossum, Jason Isaacs, Sofia Mills, Seymour Cassel, Theresa Russell, and Lupe Ontiveros. The LA Times gave it 4 stars and Ebert & Roeper Two Thumbs Up!

Aside from Sebastian Maniscalco, Jim Jermanok is the only person who makes me laugh so hard I cry.

When not on the road more than one third a year, I reside in Newton, Massachusetts, with wife Lisa, son Jake, daughter Melanie, and mini goldendoodle Theo.
