Description

Diaspora means phenomena of ethnic loyalty towards homeland with regards to historic case of Jews. It’s described as Jewish people search for home after uprooted from their holy land. Derived from Greek word “dia-speiro” meaning dispersion and presumes there exists a homeland which the diaspora will eventually return. The early migration During British Colonization may have termed Sikhs as part of Punjabi or Indian diaspora (dusebery 1995) as they were used as auxiliaries of the empire. But, after 1980’s events migration coupled and it reinforced Sikh ethnic identity, reinforced social values, religious traditions & linguistic bonds; thus making it distinct diaspora. Plus, the 1984 event sharpened overseas Sikhs sense of an endangered homeland and this critical event encouraged their sensibilities in a radical direction of Khalistan.
