Description

Founded by 2 Psychiatrists,
Dr. Alice Duncan & Dr. Angela Reiersen

FROM DR. ALICE DUNCAN:
I'm a mental health specialist and an entrepreneur on a mission to make a difference through service, learning, and giving back. With a medical degree from the University of the West Indies and membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in the UK, I bring extensive experience as a Consultant Psychiatrist, specializing in General Adult psychiatry, with special interest in Forensic Psychiatry, and Perinatal Psychiatry.

As a registered specialist with the General Medical Council and with my over 15 years of expert medicolegal experience in the family court, I have a wealth of knowledge to share. Outside of medicine, my interest in entrepreneurship has led me to build a portfolio of properties and explore the digital world.

In these challenging times, I'm passionate about being part of the solution to the global mental health problems resulting from the Covid pandemic. I believe that sharing knowledge and experience is essential to creating a better world. So here on Clubhouse, I am keen to explore innovative solutions and have open conversations about mental health and promoting good healthy lifestyle and more with likeminded people who want to make a difference. I believe our best teachers are the users of our services and a kind caring compassionate approach is essential from those providing the service. Let's make a positive impact together!

Welfare of health and social care workers post COVID-Change

FROM DR. ANGELA REIERSEN:
I am a child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist on faculty at Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine in Missouri, USA. Many people know me from when I came up with the idea to use a psychiatric medication--fluvoxamine--for treatment of COVID-19. Since then, many clinical trials in several countries have proven its benefit in treating COVID-19. Some of the best things about fluvoxamine are its known safety record, low cost, and wide availability, including parts of the world where newer, more expensive treatments are not easily available. Outside of the COVID pandemic, I am interested in finding ways to identify young people at risk for mental illness in all parts of the world, so they can benefit from preventive interventions, early diagnosis, and appropriate treatment, to maximize their well-being.
