The telephone got a US patent in 1876, nearly 150 years ago. It’s essential nature has barely changed since. Talking on the phone is a very intimate experience. We are more aware of and in the space of the person we are speaking with than the instrument we are talking to. The technology is essentially transparent.

Be open to rapid shifts in moderating: Moderator(s) may change from one format to another quickly, such as from popcorn style to a one-on-one uninterrupted conversation, to a group share around the circle of the room, etc.
