The sleep calculator helps put your sleep on the right track. Use the calculator to determine an optimal sleep schedule based on your unique situation, including your age and either your bedtime or wake-up time. The sleep calculator is simple to use and helps make sure that you’re giving yourself enough time for rest.
How Much Sleep Do You Need?
Based on recommendations from an expert panel commissioned by the National Sleep Foundation, most adults need 7–9 hours2bof sleep per night. People aged 65 and older should get 7–8 hours. Babies, young children, and adolescents need more sleep than adults do. Recommendations for their total daily sleep, which includes naps, is listed in the following table by age group.
