A space for planners (urban, transit/transportation, and environmental) and collaborators to discuss best practices to articulate a future focused on the intersections of reparative justice, equity, mobility and sustainability. Discussions focused on affordable housing, environmental stewardship, mobility, active transportation, green spaces and community-oriented planning solutions.
Conversations include:
The intersection of equity and sustainability through the understanding that historically marginalized communities disproportionately bear the consequences of pollution and environmental degradation.
Forward-thinking solutions that are not simply innovative or disruptive for the private sector, but specifically for empowering and protecting BIPOC communities and the natural environment because both have been disempowered from self-preservation.
Planning as a form of reparative justice to eliminate and reduce harm for BIPOC communities impacted by redlining, predatory lending practices, gentrification, food deserts, urban decay, and environmental injustice.
