It’s hard to ignore how male-dominated the DJ scene still is, but that doesn’t mean there is a shortage of powerful ladies making their name behind the turntables and flying the female flag. We want to map how women in the DJing world are finally garnering the respect they deserve. This industry has no excuse for being a boys’ club.
Though female DJs don’t always get their due in a patriarchal industry, there’s no shortage of women who can hold their own behind the turntables. From seasoned veterans to rising stars, we hope female artists can join this space for meaningful progressive conversations.
In the music industry, the ratio of men to women who produce, DJ and get invited to play at music festivals is wildly disproportionate. From the women on radio to the DJs and music producers, we honour and thank every single woman for the work they’ve done for this industry.
