Description

The history club that Clubhouse deserves!

For too many people, history consists of no more than a set of repetitive themes and stories such as the incompetence of First World War generals or the messianic attitude taken towards the suffragettes We never consider if the military tactics of the time were sound military thinking or whether the suffragettes hindered or helped women to gain the vote, did the majority of women actually want the vote at that time?

In this club we are going to be examining some of our favourite historical characters and incidents, looking at the truth behind the mythology. Learning for example that pirates from Africa were raiding Europe at least half a century before the Europeans began taking slaves from Africa. This club is for anybody who has ever questioned the stories which they learned during history lessons at school or want to learn things that the schools have chosen not to teach you.

This club will delve deep into all subjects of mostly western history and will be looking at all evidence without any prejudice. Please read the rules before joining in
