Odia Liberals on Clubhouse

Description

A space for free-thinking, progressive, liberal Odias on Clubhouse. Aiming to take the Odia discourse beyond just Coastal Odisha, Jagannath Culture, Dahibara Aloodum and Rasagolla wars.

Club Guidelines-

• Respect your club members’ need for privacy. Be super aware of their boundaries. Membership is not a guarantee of familiarity. Or friendship.

• Don't interrupt a speaker. Mute your mics when you join the speakers' panel. If you have a point to add, please wait for your turn or flash your mic once to let the mods know that you’d like to speak.

• Be empathetic and mindful about caste locations, gender identities, and other markers of privilege and power when interacting with others.

• India is a country of various ideologies. While a certain ideology may be prevalent at the time... fuck this, BJP fans will not be entertained. Sarla katha.

• Language no barrier. However, Hindi speakers will be judged. Not ostracised, but scrutinised. We are not purists, but Hindi imposition is a reality.

• Savarna speakers need to tone-police themselves. They need to be aware of their privilege that comes from centuries of caste oppression. Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes together constitute nearly 40% of Odisha's total population. OBCs make up more than 50% of the state.

• Articulation is a privilege. Communication skills do not exist in isolation. They result from a confluence of many kinds of liberties and immunities. However, please try to not take up too much time to put forth your views. If you need extra minutes than what's provided, do mention it at the start of your speech.
Watch Your Language: Swearing is fine. Using trigger words is not. Casteist, ableist, sexist, racist, homophobic/transphobic slurs will not be tolerated.
Wait for your turn in scheduled rooms: Clubhouse rooms can get a little heated at times. Suppress the urge to talk over the speaker during scheduled rooms. Wait for your turn. Double tap the mic icon to let the mods know.
