Climate movement strategy on Clubhouse

>>The 2020s are THE climate decade. So, ...what’s our plan?<< 2021 may well be the most important year for our common future yet/ever. Why? Because the delayed climate COP is happening, in Glasgow; and because the post-Covid reset is happening right now, as vaccines roll out, and if, as is currently happening, it is ungreen, then it’s game over for the hope of the 2020s as the decade when we transform to climate sanity.
The 2020s determine the century; we know that the wrong trajectory this decade makes climate catastrophe unavoidable. The next 12 months, for the two reasons just given, determine the decade.
In this context, we have to grow the climate movement hugely, and without delay. We have to move, as countries re-open. HOW, exactly?
This club will be the space for that debate. It will focus especially on the UK, as the site of the COP; but it will be planetary in its aspirations. This club will not focus narrowly on climate: climate is part of the broader eco-emergency.
The club will consider the case for a parents’ movement, the case for workplace activism, for strikes, and for new forms of direct action, the case for transformative and deep adaptations.
Join us. No topic matters more. It’s that simple. ...This club is for serious discussion of these matters. It is not a place to engage in nonsensical ‘debates’ about the validity of the basic science. It is a place where we look to figure out together >what is to be done<. No calling out. Only calling in.: Clubhouse is a space for free and civil discussion. But we’ll go beyond that: we’re coming at this from love. We grieve, & rage, because we love. There will be no tearing ourselves apart,in this club.
Urgency, but no headless chickens.: As described in the club description, the situation couldn’t be more urgent. And yet: this really is a marathon,not a sprint. This club will actively look to be regenerative, and help prevent burnout.
