Mental Health Within Our community on Clubhouse

The mission of this room is to create a safe space for Eritreans to have a healthy dialogue concerning mental health. The negative stigma surrounding mental health has suppressed us from coming forward and properly discussing the issue. As a result, individuals suffering from various psychological illnesses struggle alone and in the dark without community support or professional guidance. Feeling deserted we often witness young Eritrean in the diaspora self-harm and substance abuse as a form of coping mechanism. We as a community have an obligation to make Mental Health more visible and thereby creating better support and social acceptance.

We need to make it clear that It's not something to be outcasted, shunned or shamed for.
