Description

🤷‍♀️House purpose🤷‍♂️
To discuss deeply held beliefs using Street Epistemology.

🧐What is Street epistemology?
It’s a method of communication that aims to help people examine and evaluate their beliefs in a more rational and objective manner.

🧐Won’t it get out of hand?
SE involves engaging in a respectful and non-confrontational conversation with another person to explore the reasons behind their beliefs, the methods they used to arrive at their conclusions, and the evidence they have to support their claims.

🧐Where does it come from?
Street epistemology was developed by philosopher and author Peter Boghossian and is inspired by the Socratic method of questioning. Its primary goal is to help people become more aware of their thought processes and to encourage them to critically evaluate their beliefs, regardless of their subject matter. The approach is often used to explore controversial or sensitive topics, such as politics, religion, and social issues.

🧐How does SE work?
The process of street epistemology involves asking open-ended questions to encourage self-reflection and critical thinking. This allows the interlocutor to examine their beliefs more objectively and to identify potential flaws in their reasoning.

🧐You mean you want me to abandon my beliefs?
Not at all, the goal of street epistemology is not to persuade someone to abandon their beliefs but to encourage them to examine their beliefs more critically and objectively.
Respect: Try your best to do no harm in a space where there is so much potential to offend. Your best is always enough.
One-on-one discussions: Street Epistemology works best without interruption.
Use Street Epistemology: Stick to this technique so that people know what to expect.
