“If the United States of America and the rest of the world wants to retain extraordinary educators of African descent, it must address the systemic racist culture embedded in its education system and pay all educators their worth.”
-Melissa Perkins, Global Master Educator
African Teacher Diaspora is a Global Advocacy Network and future professional organization for Education Change Makers who identify their cultural lineage from the continent of Africa. Our mission is to improve the working conditions and compensation of all educators especially those of African descent.
Educators bolster all professions and it is a given they should be among the most valued and honored where they do their craft. We seek members from corporate sectors and other industries who support this narrative to assist in advocacy efforts. If we have a poor quality education system because we cannot retain diverse educators, this is an economic disaster.
Parents need to care because it is their child’s education in the balance and they deserve options. Members from other cultural roots also should be champion diversity in the classroom so their youth can be prepared to be led and serve alongside those who look and behave differently from them.
Therefore, let’s all use this club as a catalyst for positive change and support for teachers of African descent globally.
