30 year old Rodrick “WOPSWORLD” Thornton , formly known as “WOP” or “Shortee Wop”, is a Louisville Kentucky native some like to recognize as a prodigy of the music industry. Along side with his brother/ super producer William “Willy Will” Hodge, was discovered by the late great Static “Stephen Garret” Major working out of there westend home on 35th and Market st. Static decided to take the two under his wing and exposed them around major artists like Geniune, Missy Elliot, and Aaliyah also had them working up close with his groups “Playa” and “Southernaire Allstars” around the time they met producer, now radio director of 93.1’s Mathew “12” Brown. Shortly after, they shook hands with modern day music moguls like Super Producer “Polow Da Don”, rapper “Killa Mike”, rapper “Bo Hagen” of “The BME Click” and “Dj Don Cannon” in which he was able to create a heavily buzzing mixtape entitled “Work Work no Play Play” in 2009.

Growing in his works, Wopsworld released consecutive albums “WOPSWORLD” dropped in April of 2017, and the critically acclaimed “Michelle’s Sun” put out August of 2018 with some records recorded in Astro Studios Atlanta,Ga and at QOQ Multimedia in his hometown where he currently produces, engineers, and writes for up and coming artists on the same journey as him. His latest Album serves as an ode to his mother who had been struggling with Lung Cancer and passed before he turned 21. Unlike the other Albums that focused on dishing out bonafide hits, WOPSWORLD strongly focuses listeners to walk away feeling like they know him after listening to “Michelle’s Sun”. For an artist who can produce, write and record every record on his own, the nicknames that friends, family and other artists have given him these days are “Wop the Wizard”, “Work of Perfection” and “Woppa3000”. Strong influences like Andre 3000, Tupac, Kanye West, Big Sean, Kendrick Lamar, Lil Wayne, Drake, Timbaland, and Manny Fresh are easily heard meshed all together throughout this EP when it comes to versatility, but still Wop succeeds to make it all original as far as his style on every track . Along with the young work-o-Holic’s amazing musical background and great knowledge for music production, comes undeniable timeless music with guaranteed smashes to hear and continue coming in the near future.
