Von Deon is an American painter and image maker with a love for Hip-Hop & Pop Culture, Story Telling, Portraiture and Graffiti. His work is categorized as 'Pop Expressionism' because of the expressionist style portraiture using Pop Culture characters and Icons.
He is the self proclaimed 'Flower Boy' because of his early artworks involving flowers, floral designs and the concept of spiritual mental and physical growth. "The Flower Boy was born out of the mistakes and traumas of my past. I've learned to accept my life as it is, always do the next right thing and accept the opportunity to grow wherever I am with whatever I have" says Von. The concept of growth is meant to have a universal understanding and spans across any and every situation. Von Deon believes that growth is compounding and if one truly taps into their personal growth they can see personal progress by leaps and bounds in a short period of time.
Von Deon studied at Richmond College, The American international University in London, and Columbia College in Chicago earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in photography 2016.
During his time at Columbia College, he learned the traditional use of photoshop and to enhance and create digital images. However, he saw the power of this complex program and went above and beyond to create composited digital images that he would then translate into "Super Flat" style paintings heavily influenced by urban graffiti and street art. He has coined this process "Image Sampling" similar to how music producers sample familiar soundbites to give their music a unique sound. For years Von has been creating custom and original artwork using this process.
The Flower Boy Brand produces artwork involving floral designs, experimental portraiture and pop culture elements.
