Birendra is an entrepreneurial banking and financial services technology executive with work experience in US, UK and India. His expertise spans Capital Markets (FX / Fixed Income), Retail and Commercial Banking, Transaction Banking and Wealth Management with a particular focus on Digital and FinTech.
Birendra is Managing Partner at Envision Consultants and provides strategic advisory services to FinTech firms and financial institutions. He is also advising Venture Capital and Private Equity firms on their investments. Birendra is open to NED / Independent Director roles at Banking and Financial Services institutions and Technology companies.
Birendra joined Citi at Salomon Brothers in NY in 1994 and progressed through various business facing roles in New York and London before leaving Citi in August 2008, last position being in London as CIO for Global Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities. After spending 3 years as CIO for Nomura’s India based strategic delivery centre servicing the Global Markets (Wholesale) business, he returned to London and joined Lloyds Bank as CIO for Commercial Banking (Markets and Transaction Banking). At Lloyds he worked closely with the business leadership team on the digital transformation agenda for the Commercial Bank.
Birendra is passionate about Innovation and Fintech and is a Mentor at Level39 and advisor to many startups. He served as Chair of the REACH (Race, Ethnicity and Cultural Heritage) Inclusion & Diversity network at Lloyds. He is a keen Cricket fan and has had the fortune to serve on the Audit Committee for the International Cricket Council from 2008-2012 as an Independent Member.
