Bio

Professor, investor, technology consultant

Born in a small town in Sweden and moved to the states when young. Dreamed of changing the world and have accomplished some of my goals in academics and research. Spent time at Harvard Medical School and Harvard School of Public Health working on precision medicine for infectious diseases and cancer. Finished my doctorate with Professor Adrian Hill at Oxford University focused on tropical neglected diseases. Same lab meetings with Sarah Gilbert who developed the Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID vaccine with Adrian. Met Bill Gates after he funded our lab with $10M towards vaccines for tropical diseases.

Started my own lab at Georgia Tech in Atlanta focused in genomics of infectious diseases and graduated five PhDs, dozens of masters students and taught thousands of undergraduates molecular and cell biology and computational biology. Received multiple NIH grants including PI on “Viral Evolution and Spread of Infectious Diseases”. My lab wrote computational software to help CDC track infectious disease outbreaks including KAnalyze, KSpoligo, Kestrel, MaRS. Received young faculty award from Tech and multiple mentorship awards. Developed conferences on genomics of infectious diseases alongside CDC and Intel.

Know and interact with multiple Nobel laureates and Lasker prize winners within infectious diseases and immunology.

Extensively consult for venture capital firms and mutual funds within the technology space.
