TONY SPINOSA is a producer, stage director, choreographer, writer, arts leader and performer. At a very early age Tony was mentored by theatre legend Michael Bennett and made his Broadway debut in PETER PAN at the Marquis Theatre in 1998.
His latest project, SINGING REVOLUTION, is a Europop musical that tells the story of an Estonian who falls in love with the daughter of a Soviet Commander. Against the backdrop of the real historical events of Estonia’s revolution against the Soviet Union, the story travels back and forth across four decades to discover how they met, how they became enemies, and finally, what tore them apart. Tony became the Resident Director of the Tony Award winning Broadway revival of LA CAGE AUX FOLLES in 2010, at the Longacre Theatre. Having made his home in New York City, he has produced numerous events for Broadway Cares, Theatre Development Fund and The Actors Fund, including the recent mega-hits THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE and BOMBSHELL IN CONCERT at the Minskoff Theatre, [TITLE OF SHOW] IN CONCERT at the Broadhurst, and THEY’RE PLAYING OUR SONG IN CONCERT at the Music Box.
As a director/choreographer, Tony’s award-winning work includes NEWSIES, WEST SIDE STORY and CATS at the Herberger Theatre Center in Phoenix, Arizona, CHARLIE CHANG AND THE MYSTERIOUS SALAMI at the New York City Cringe Festival. Select regional productions include HAIRSPRAY, FAME: THE MUSICAL, THE MUSIC MAN, OLIVER, KISS ME, KATE, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF and. LA CAGE AUX FOLLES. He has also been responsible for International collaborations in Zurich, Glasgow and Vilnius thorough the European Arts Organization IETM.
As a performer Tony has been seen in National and International Tours of A CHORUS LINE, SOUTH PACIFIC, LEADER OF THE PACK, PETER PAN and EVITA. He has appeared at the Hollywood Bowl in A TRIBUTE TO MARVIN HAMLISCH with Nathan Lane and SOUTH PACIFIC with Reba McEntire and Brian Stokes Mitchell. Regional performing credits include Walnut Street Theatre, Berkshire Theatre Festival, La Mirada, Santa Barbara CLO, San Jose CLO, the El Portal Arts Center, Casa Mañana, Bass Hall and the International City Theatre.
Tony’s holds a BFA in Visual Communication and an MBA in Marketing from American InterContinental University. He is a proud member of SDC, AEA, SAG-AFTRA and DGA.
