J. Wells Jr. is a SAG Award-winning stunt performer and actor. Recognized with the stunt ensemble for the acclaimed film, “Black Panther”. It was J’s martial arts background that afforded him the opportunity. He received his 4th degree black belt in karate in Okinawa and holds a Guinness World Record as a participant in the largest gathering of karate practitioners to perform a kata at one time.
An accomplished actor, J. has roots in the theatre. He began acting as a child in church. But it was his role as “Troy Maxson” in August Wilson’s Fences while attending Florida Community College of Jacksonville that propelled his decision to pursue acting full time. Since then, he has had roles in film and television including “Fatal Attraction”, “#Murder”, “American Nightmare”, When a Man Loves a Woman” and the short film, “Thirty” with NFL Veteran Karon Riley.
Continuing his work in film and television, J. Recently added fight choreographer and stunt coordinator to his list of titles. Utilizing his skills in martial arts with his knowledge of the entertainment industry to put together fight sequences for projects such as “Haswick”, “Artistic”, and “Super Turnt”.
When he is not on set, J. enjoys teaching Karate to young people as well as teaching self defense skills to women. A native of Jacksonville, Fl. J. also occasionally tours around the country working in experiential marketing which provides a platform for him to showcase his emcee and hosting skills.
