Following completion of a Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy Teacher Development Programme taught by Dr Patrizia Collard in 2013, I qualified as a mindfulness teacher. I was introduced to mindfulness in my early 20s by psychiatrist Dr Brenda Davies as I sought help for severe health anxieties. Coming from a family with a history of mental health issues and 5 suicides I have made it my life’s cause to help those who are suffering.
Several years ago, I began teaching mindfulness workshops for both adults and children. These are not your usual mindfulness classes, rather they are filled with humour, raw honesty and eternal kindness. My teaching centres around sharing my own vulnerabilities, whilst bestowing my attendees with the necessary tools to independently live a mindful life.
The Mindful Mum launched in 2020 as a direct response to the mental health crisis induced by COVID-19.
82% of UK adults have experienced stress because of the pandemic (Mental Health Foundation, October 2020), whilst 58% of young people who receive mental health care reported disruption to these services (Public Health England, 2020). It is The Mindful Mum’s mission to spread our love, support and kindness to those who are still suffering.
The Mindful Mum believes that there is not a single set approach to mindfulness. For some, being mindful may take the form of sitting meditation, whilst for others it may manifest through an appreciation of nature.
