Bio

Transformation Catalyst, speaker/storyteller and author of DreamMakers book series and the inspiration for the DreamMakers documentary. She also has authored chapters in numerous books including: The Fifth Discipline Fieldbook by Peter Senge, Diversity Handbook by Janet Crenshaw Smith and the International Journal of Ethical Leadership by Inamori International Center for Ethnics and Excellence, Leading People by Robert Rosen and Coaching by Values.

Michele is known for her work helping executive leadership teams to unleash the collective genius of their people to cocreate the culture and conditions for people and organizations to flourish, in harmony with the planet. Michele previously served on President Bill Clinton’s Transition Team where she helped to staff Cabinet-level leadership positions. She later served in President Clinton’s administration as Director of the Federal Quality Institute, working for Vice President Al Gore in the Reinventing Government initiative.

Michele served for nine years on the executive leadership team of Herman Miller, a Fortune 500 global office Furniture company. As Corporate Vice President For People. She was responsible for global leadership development, “human resource” development and management, quality management, communications and health services. In this role she facilitated Herman Miller’s whole company renewal and transformation processes. She previously served as Director of Corporate Relations, responsible for shareholder, government and community relations.

Michele began her career with the Michigan Department of Corrections as one of the first two female probation officers to supervise adult male felons on probation in Detroit, Michigan. She later served as Director of Detroit Halfway for Women and went on to become Michigan’s first female Deputy Warden responsible for rehabilitation programs in a male prison.

Michele serves on the Boards of Directors of One Earth and the Detroit Windsor Dance Academy. She also serves on the advisory boards of Magnolia Moonshot 2030, the Fowler Center for Business as an Agent for World Benefit, at the Weatherhead School of Management, the David Cooperrider Center for Appreciative Inquiry at the Stiller School of Business and she serves as a mentor and advisor to Junior Enterprise.

Michele earned her bachelor and master’s degrees in sociology from Eastern Michigan University and University of Detroit, respectively.
