OSEI KWEKU
Osei was born in Kitchener, Ontario and spent his early years in his parents’ native country – Ghana, West Africa. Osei was raised with an attitude of service. It has often been said that the greatest influence in one’s life is one’s parents. Osei learned at an early age what it meant to make a commitment, to take person responsibility & to sacrifice by watching is dad. Disheartened with the level of health care that was being provided in Ghana, Osei’s father founded a free hospital and to this day oversees management and staffing. Watching his father taught Osei a valuable life lesson when you are operating on purpose anything is possible. For over 20 years his father would leave his medical practice in Cleveland and fly to Ghana, sometimes as frequently as once a month.
Osei has carried this spirit of giving and attitude of perseverance through out his journey in life. While attending Hampton University, he was a leader amongst the students as well as an athlete. On this very campus is where Osei discovered his love for broadcasting. Upon graduating, Osei began to make his mark in the radio industry. After successfully hosting his own show in Washington DC for several years, news of his success began to spread quickly. To sum up a career that has been decorated with numerous awards and achievements, Osei’s voice has been heard on radio in Philadelphia, Baltimore, Virginia, and Atlanta. As the primary male voice-over talent for BET, his polished baritone voice was heard by more than 64 million people in the national and international markets that BET services.
Outside of radio Osei has branded himself as an international business man, as well as a community leader. The spark that was initially lit by Oseis’s father continues to burn. Utilizing the relationships and contacts Osei has built throughout his career, he continues to help physicians who desire to serve people in developing countries as well as his father’s hospital. Leveraging his relationship with athletes & entertainers, Osei often challenges them while on his show to give back. Osei has become synonymous with social change. In May of this year Osei’s non profit, America to Africa sent their first group of inner city youth from Atlanta to Ghana. This trip was designed to encourage cultural exchange and inspire these students overcome the obstacles they face on a daily basis but putting them in direct contact with their history.
