Michelle Anderson’s life is defined by two factors: The ability to overcome unimaginable adversity and an uncanny ability to share her story candidly as she moves, touches, and inspires audiences to tear down the walls of stigma, and build self-esteem in the power of her Blackness.
Formerly, 2011 Ms. Plus America, Michelle is the only known HIV positive woman to run in mainstream pageantry and win a national pageant title. Since her historic victory, Michelle’s inspiring and award-winning story has been shared across television, radio and news with national appearances on The Steve Harvey Show, CNN’s What Matters, and The Michael Baisden Show just to name a few. She currently resides in Dallas Texas and is the State Organizer for The Afiya Center ,National Ambassador for Greater Than AIDS Empowered Campaign and The Black AIDS Institute.
Michelle continues to use her story to mobilize against anti-blackness to address policies that do not speak to the experiences of Black Women to end reproductive oppressions that create risk for HIV.
