Hello I’m Steven Martin

Host of Patient Advocacy United Club

I was studying fashion in college when a surprise diagnosis changed my life forever. In 2016 I was D/x with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia. Since then my life has changed dramatically.

The work I am dedicating my life to is the expansion of health whether that be for advocating for larger budgets in state legislatures or going to Washington DC to protect the 20 million people like me who were saved by the Affordable Care Act.

Now, I feel healthcare is safe for the moment with a new administration at the reigns. So now I am exploring the great big world of health from: the private sector, partnerships with other health advocates, and coordinating a volunteer Patient Advisory Board for innovators and advocates can turn to for opinion.

I’m a queer man and am also very passionate about my community. Unfortunately there are still major barriers to access culturally competent care not mention regions of health apartheids that do not offer any care at all.

Looking forward to braking down barriers around health stigma because health is natural and we don’t need to be ashamed.

For the past four years I have cut my teeth in grassroots organizing and I am effective. Now I would like to introduce those skills and tactics with innovators, companies and government in the rapidly changing health world we all find ourselves in.
