New Orleans native Stacey Muhammad is a multi hyphenate artist who has received rave reviews for her cinematic approach and distinctive style to storytelling and for creating emotionally charged, character-driven stories.
Her most recent work includes directing the season premiere and second episode of the 2nd season of First Wives Club for BET. She also directed a season 4 episode of the groundbreaking series, “Queen Sugar” for OWN as well as three commercials for the AD Council / AARP.
She is currently in development with Blackmaled Productions on her first feature film titled, THE RETURN and has been attached to direct the reimagining of the 1932 horror film, WHITE ZOMBIE.
She’s also in post production with producing partner Marc Lamont Hill, on two feature length documentaries, “Second Line” and “Blacks in the Holy Land.”
Stacey is a 2020 alumni of the esteemed Warner Brother’s Directing workshop and was one of thirteen directors chosen by the Directors Guild of America and the Association of Independent Commercial Producers for the inaugural Commercial Director’s Diversity Program.
She has directed and co-executive produced multiple doc / reality series including “From The Bottom Up” for BET. She directed seasons 3&4 of the “Being Mary Jane: After Shows” as well as numerous award winning short films.
Stacey also wrote and directed the award winning digital series, For Colored Boys Redemption.
Stacey lectures at universities nationwide on a broad range of topics including hip hop, pop culture, media, film, social justice issues, and most notably, the history of Black women filmmakers.
She’s also an arts educator who teaches documentary filmmaking to underserved youth.
