Bio

Joseph Sampy AKA Somnea (pronounced Som-Nee-Uh) is a genre-bending, anime-inspired music artist and producer repping the city of New Orleans. Since the age of 9, music has been a consistency in my life and helped shape my music today. From learning how to play the piano, guitar, flute, and drums to drawing influence from artists such as Asking Alexandria, The Weeknd, Alison Wonderland, and Travis Scott, my sound is in a class of its own. It bends and meshes genres and disrupts thought while creating a community of like minds. In 2019, I released his EP Wicked Games which include popular singles such as "Quiet Game", "Eye Spy", and "Risk". Wicked Games garnered the attention of outlets such as Artist Sounds, UndergroundHipHop Blog, and New Orleans' very own media powerhouse, OffBeat Magazine. In 2021, I released my first single of the year, "Extra", a song inspired by the flash and excitement of old newspapers.

I have 2 day jobs. A full time job as a Highschool Teacher for graphic design and business, and a part time job as an uber driver. These jobs help me deepen my understanding of society and the intricacies of modern social interations.
