How did I turn into a marketing master? Well . . 

By 1999 my first website - then 3 years old & having gone through a name change - exploded to 50 thousand email subscribers, which isn’t a remarkable # of followers today but it was perceived as huge back then. 

By 2000 & 2001 this resulted in me being able to parlay a rockstar status into over $1 million/year of net income before tax!

In terms of content, before 2004 was an email newsletter sent twice a week & an occasional new web page on the website. The equivalent today would be 2 blog posts a week & occasional YouTube videos but back then there was no CMS (or; content management system), like WordPress.

Things really went wild in 1998 when I started sharing some refreshing, yet proven concepts;

(1)  "Your customers are worth more than you think!" 

(Today that would need to include followers/fans/subscribers, or; "your audience"). 

(2)  “How much advertising would you do if you didn't have to pay for it?”

And;

(3)  "Your competition will pay you & you can use that money to run unlimited advertising!"

Those exciting & yet to this day mostly unheard of concepts (+ others on SmilingSteve.com), gained me a reputation. People realized that the insights I was sharing meant I knew marketing & sales and BOOM, my opt-in list grew to a whopping 1.5 million followers by 2006!

Of course, prior to social media becoming big, it was harder to build a massive following, which shows you how strong my marketing was & still is. Today my database is 33 million & growing, AND; though I’m very new to Clubhouse, I expect to leverage my database to attract an army of followers here!

Now, I must say; it is clearly far easier to do one thing on Clubhouse than it is on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube or LinkedIn. What is unique on this platform? Instant 2-way communication; join a room & you can talk to strangers instantly - what a way to establish influence!

Here I will share what is the very best side hustle; “teaching others why they need to start a side hustle & helping them get it going!”
