I am one of the few people at an IEP meeting that can honestly say I have been in almost every role at the table.
🍎 I was a teacher for 7 years and taught regular education and special education. I was then the Special Education Coordinator (LEA designee) for two years.
⚖️ Realizing I was not making the difference I wanted, I went to law school. In law school, I always knew I would either be for or against the school system. I like to say the students have won. I am here to help families get services for their children with different abilities.
🦄 I now have the unique ability to connect with and relate to all memebers of the IEP team. Due to this, IEP meetings that I attend are true team meetings focused on the student’s needs. When there are disagreements, the team can discuss and we usually come to a compromise that works for all and benefits the student the most.
🥊 That being said, if the IEP team cannot come to an agreement, I will bring out the boxing gloves and fight for what my client feels is in the best interest of their child.
☮️ My ultimate goal is to help my clients have a Stress-Free IEP experience.
