NaShawndra "Shawn" Jackson:
Is a Cornell University graduate who prior to becoming a current elected official, has had an esteemed corporate and business career path. Having began her career in Manhattan as a strategic consulting for the Monitor Company (currently Monitor Deloitte) where she consulted corporate and governmental clients on strategy, business development, and tourism related topics, Shawn’s background includes 25 years of executive and entrepreneurial experience. She is a former VP of Investment Management where she ran a $57MM community investment fund. From there she moved closer to community development by founding TrainSpree, a workforce development firm, where she’s trained over 10,000 Mississippi workers on State required job curriculum for over 10 years.
Past/current clients include the Government of Bermuda, AT&T, Chik-Fil-A, Merck Pharmaceuticals, the State of Mississippi, the US Army Corps of Engineers, and the City of Vicksburg.
Shawn is a native of Vicksburg, MS, where she currently lives with her three sons.
She is an elected official, serving on the Warren County Board of Supervisors as Supervisor of District 3 and Vice President of the Board. During her tenure, she orchestrated and managed the delivery of over 25,000 food boxes to Warren County; She spearheaded the restructuring of the County’s business taxation approach resulting in the recapturing of hundreds of thousands of dollars in current and future revenue; She’s been a contributing Board member in the Board’s economic development activities including currently championing a City Wide tax abatement and redevelopment plan that could lead to more housing and revenue for the City and the County; She’s also worked with her board colleagues to provide solutions to disaster management and response including being proactive in requesting that local leadership work to establish a public COVID-Vaccination site for Vicksburg/Warren County.
Shawn is a licensed Realtor. She serves on the Board of Directors for Alumni Affairs for the Cornell University ILR School, and is the former national Vice President of fundraising for the Cornell Black Alumni Association.
