I have over 25 years of experience in “the industry”, from working the floor at Charlie Trotter’s restaurant in Chicago to founding Bayer Public Relations in 2003 in NYC — a full-service PR/marketing agency, specializing in culinary/hospitality, mostly representing restaurants. My current/recent clients include Sullivan Street Bakery, La Palapa, Au Za’atar, Gumption Coffee, Wicked Jane, Spoken English. and Curious Elixirs.
In 2014, I launched my weekly podcast, All in the Industry, on Heritage Radio Network, focusing on behind-the-scenes talent in hospitality. I have hosted over 275 podcast episodes to date with my past guests, including Danny Meyer, Thomas Keller, Ruth Reichl, Tom Colicchio, Kate Krader, Will Guidara, JJ Johnson, Dale DeGroff, Missy Robbins, Nick Kokonas, Daniel Boulud, Ben Leventhal, Maneet Chauhan, Massimo Bottura, and Carla Hall. Every episode also features my PR Tip, Speed Round, Industry News Discussion, Solo Dining Experience & The Final Question.
In 2019, I started a new media and production company, All in the Industry®. Our inaugural event, H.O.S.T. SUMMIT + SOCIAL, an all-day, inspirational, interactive and educational conference for, and about, the dynamic hospitality industry, took place on 1.27.20 at The William Vale in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NYC, and was attended by over 250 industry professionals. Our panels featured past guests from my podcast, including Drew Nieporent, Jeff Gordinier, Rita Jammet, and Dana Cowin.
I am a former president of the NYWCA, & a member of Les Dames d’Escoffier NY, Heritage Radio Network, and the James Beard Foundation. A Miami native, I earned a BA from The University of Michigan, and a Culinary Certificate from the Cooking Academy of Chicago. I have been recognized in Total Food Service’s Top Women in Metro NY Foodservice & Hospitality, and Heritage Radio Network’s Hall of Fame.
I am also a contributing writer for Fathom, Tasting Table and Thrillist, a committed yogi, and a fearless solo diner and traveler. Namaste.
