Hey all!!!   👋🏾 I’m Shirl, creator and co-host of the Shades of Strong podcast.

... 🤓 but Shades of Strong is not just a podcast, it's a global movement where we're working to dismantle the myths and stereotypes of the Strong Black Woman by creating safe and sacred spaces for Black women to uncape, unmask and unhide so that they can be whatever shade of strong that feels right for them.

🌸 My absolute passion for life is sowing seeds of hope, healing and happiness into the lives of women who find themselves drowning in the middle of their own lives. 

🌼 I do that by providing tools and resources that help Black women identify and unlearn the behaviors that force them into caping, masking, and hiding.

A few fun facts about me:
 
🤷🏾‍♀️I never learned to ride a bike. I was a tomboy growing up so while the girls were riding bikes, skating and playing hopscotch, I was playing football and swinging from Tarzan vines with the boys.
 
🤷🏾‍♀️ I count steps as I'm walking up them and I'm secretly hoping that I land on a two-digit odd number. Don't ask me why because I have no idea.
 
🤷🏾‍♀️ My favorite pastime is watching B list Black movies.  The worse the storyline and acting, the better. I just sit there and critique the whole thing and when it’s over, I’m like “man that was a good movie”. It’s weird, but it’s who I am.😂😜

🙌🏾 Word to the wise: When faced with the choice of being strong and being human, choose both because BEING STRONG IS BEING HUMAN.
