Bio

I’m a poet performer director and producer. A member of the Nuyorican Poets Cafe 1998 championship slam team. I was the first poet to perform on "Def Poetry on HBO." Which was cool. I co-wrote and co-starred in the Tony® Award-winning "Def Poetry on Broadway” and co-conceived and assistant directed the Tony® Award-winning Broadway show "Bridge and Tunnel." Produced by Meryl Streep, New York Times theater critic Charles Isherwood called "Bridge and Tunnel" “A sweet spirited valentine to New York City, its polyglot citizens and the larger notion of an all-inclusive America."

You might have seen me performing around NYC with my Americana-Funk-Hop band s.a.l.a.d. I’m currently working on some picture books and a middle-grade graphic novel about growing up with the Sugarhill Gang in Englewood, NJ.
