Today, I'm all too familiar with the importance of embracing your authentic self and following the path of the heart, but it hasn't always been this way.

In fact, I lived in fear of my spiritual side for nearly two decades after a frightening experience with a spirit as a child. And without any mentors to guide me forward, any time I had a spiritual experience, I would attempt to “close the spiritual door” as soon as I realized what was happening. Essentially, I was closing myself off from my authentic self, only accepting a part of myself.

And then I was in an accident with a combine tractor, and my life changed forever.

With an unknown illness stemming from the accident and many months spent in the hospital, I had no choice but to venture into the deep unknown, not knowing if I would survive. It was on this journey, I rediscovered my true nature and went from a place of fear to one of acceptance of who I am - a spiritual and physical being.

Today, I can no longer imagine my life before this experience. I believe every experience, whether positive or negative, is a learning opportunity and a chance for us to grow.
