eenagers Fight for a Better Future – level 3
Australian teenager Ambrose Hayes says that he has had enough of the Australian government´s inaction on the climate crisis.
The fifteen-year-old boy says that it is necessary to act now before it is too late. Hayes spends his Fridays protesting against the federal government´s plans to invest in carbon emitting projects as a part of Australia´s economic recovery from a tough year. Hayes and many Australian youngsters feel that the government is not listening to their voices. However, the government´s actions are going to affect the young generation, and they will lead to more costs in the future.
Similarly, his counterparts in other parts of the world organize events as a part of the Fridays for Future movement that demands urgent action on the climate crisis.
Difficult words: climate crisis (the term used to describe climate change and its negative impact), carbon emitting projects (a business that will result in more emissions or release of gases such as greenhouse gasses), counterpart (a person or a thing that has a similar function or position).
