Today he has taken the radio show from AM station to the legendary talk station, Real Radio 104.1 FM. The show, renamed the “Monsters in the Morning”, can now be heard world wide on Iheart Radio. Russ has taken the show from the one hour of radio air time, to one of the highest rated radio show in Central Florida. The “Monsters in the Morning” have been a legendary fixture of Orlando radio for close to thirty years.
Russ is also the author of the “Jolly Jane” Graphic novels. “Jolly Jane” is the on going saga of a beautiful paramedic that is possessed by our nations first female serial killer, Jolly Jane. The graphic novels are available on “Big City Comics”.
Along with being an “Orlando’s Big Shot” Nominee in “The Orlando Weekly” in 2020, the “Monsters” have been named “Orlando’s Best Radio show” several years in a row.
Rollins also was the creator of the “Kicks for Guns” program in Orlando. Started in 2000, the gun trade in program has successfully gotten over 10 thousand unwanted guns off the streets of Central Florida. “Crimeline” and the Orange County sheriffs department have recognized Russ for this ongoing program.
When it comes to competing with the Monsters in the ratings, they have bested national legends like Rush Limbaugh, Bubba “The Love Sponge” and even Howard Stern.
"What Russ has done with the Monsters down in Florida has been a nationally recognized success story," says Michael Harrison, publisher of Talkers Magazine. Russ has been on the list of Talkers Magazines “Heavy Hundred” for over 15 years and he was on the “Talkers Magazine - Top 100 Most important Talk Show hosts in America.” in 2020.
In the end Russ says, "I'm not in radio for the money. I don’t judge my success by signing million dollar contracts, I just want people to say 'You know what? That Russ Rollins, he left his mark on radio. But don't worry, you can get that off with a little Ajax."
