Roy has extensive experience of leading academic teams having joined higher education from the film and television industry in 1999. Curriculum development has been a key area of activity in particular the use of live projects to bridge the divide between higher education and the world of work. Partnerships with creative industries SME’s in order to facilitate outcomes with real business value for partners and an enhanced student experience has been central to Roy’s work as an educator and researcher. More recently Roy has turned towards creative talent development and community engagement as an important strand in his work. Alongside this he continues to develop as a creative practice researcher drawing down funding from Arts Council England to support the development of community driven, immersive, audio visual arts projects. He enjoys film and television criticism and takes an interest in the philosophies underpinning experiential storytelling.
