A love poem for colored gurls

It's late, and I know I shouldn't be up, but off in the distance, I hear the faint echo of metaphoric bloodhounds on my trail. Take to high ground, I think. Instead, I follow the river, the forever flowing, forever changing river and submerge myself in a water baptism to shake off the scent.

I am born again.
My strength is renewed.

And that was for colored gurls, who considered homicide, but have to go to work in da morn'n.
