Our Mission

Poetic Pain was created to provide a platform to dive deep into traumatic events to better understand how we can make amends with past relationships, societal issues, and the impact they have on our mental health. Through analyzing past experiences and relationships we can derive important learnings to apply to our current relationships, as well as create a framework for improving future experiences and relationships. Everyone experiences setbacks, suffering, and unexpected challenges in our lives. However, we must not allow these painful experiences to go unaddressed. Whether we know it or not, our experiences make us who we are, and can influence the health of our relationships: with our family, our friends, our significant others, and ourselves. Poetic Pain strives to break through the societal stigma discouraging open expression of vulnerabilities, painful past relationships, and the impact of mental health. Through the collective sharing of the challenges we face – past and present – we can create a better understanding of ourselves, our relationships with others, and the world around us.

Rio Moore is the founder and Creator of Poetic Pain. Persevering through his own hardships throughout life, Rio has developed an understanding of the impact his past experiences have had on his relationships and his own mental health. As a young, impoverished African American man, Rio demonstrated resilience through an upbringing without a father, and learning to care for himself and his younger brother as his mother struggled with drug addiction. Rio was introduced to the streets at a very young age. He made mistakes while having to teach himself how to survive. Overcoming all obstacles, Rio grew to become a star athlete in football and basketball, while obtaining three degrees including a B.A in Psychology and a Masters in Leadership and Management; he now has more than 10 years of leadership experience working in two of the largest, most reputable companies in the world (Amazon and Target)
