Renee Moncada Studied photography and film in which she holds a BFA from Cal State East Bay. Renee works as a freelance director, producer, and writer. She lives in the San Francisco bay area.
Renee is a seasoned director and producer with over 10 plus years experience in Television, Film and Digital formats. Renee received an award for Best Documentary Feature about Oakland rapper Too Short entitled “Life Is” In 2016 Renee directed and Executive Produced “Big Freedia Queen of Bounce “ a docu-series about New Orleans rapper, Big Freedia, running for six seasons on the FUSE Network. Renee has produced and directed shows for National Geographic Channel “Ultimate Factories”, Discovery Channel “Shark Week” , The Military Channel “Best Ranger,” and TLC “Wet Paint”. In 2017 Renee produced a musical short “In the Pines” by Grammy Award Winning Blues Artist, Fantastic Negrito centered around mothers losing their sons to gun violence. In 2020 Renee directed a live stream female rap cypher “God Code,” for The Black Woman is God opening ceremony hosted by The Museum of Modern Art , SF. Renee also holds music video direction credits for Warner Brother Records “Sol Eklypse” and Kobalt Music group Big Freedia’s “Nah Who Mad”.
Renee also teaches film direction in an accelerator lab at McClymonds High School in Oakland, California where she mentors aspiring filmmakers. She is a member of Brown Girl Doc Mafia Film (BGDM) and certified member of the National Black Chamber of Commerce.
