Ravina is an international media veteran and is acknowledged as one of the top 20 women professionals in India. She has over 35 years of industry experience that spans television and radio broadcasting, advertising, filming and journalism.
Recognized as one of the pioneers of Indian television programming, both in entertainment and news, Ravina is also Indian television's first woman CEO.
Ravina is acknowledged as a star maker and has given breakthrough opportunities to fresh acting, writing and journalistic talent all through her career, many of whom are leading stars in the industry today.
She was creator and CEO of News Corp owned Star News until 2004.
Before Star, Ravina worked at Sony Entertainment Television as Head of Content and Communication and with the Kerry Packer owned Channel 9 in India as CEO.
Creating impact is her forte.
Ravina started her career as a copywriter and spent 11 years in adverstising. Based in Singapore between 1990 and 1996, Ravina worked all over South East Asia.
Throughout her career, Ravina has won many awards in television and radio broadcasting and as a creative head in advertising.
Ravina's academic profile includes studying Feature Filmmaking and Broadcast News from New York University (NYU). She has earned a Diploma from the London School of Journalism, as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Economics and Literature from Bangalore University.
Ravina is also an alumnus of the Insead Social Entrepreneurship Program.
She is also a social impact activist. She co founded We Log, India's First Citizen Action Network. It is run by the We Log Public Charitable Trust. It focuses on three areas of Public Concern: Empowerment, Environment and Social Justice.
She also writes for various platforms on current affairs, citizen empowerment and social justice.
