Ramesh Krish Kumar (MNZIFST) is the Founder, Food Scientist, and Managing Director of Asmara® (by NU3x Asmara Pte. Ltd.). He currently oversees Asmara’s product development, marketing, sales, and business development capabilities.
Within a year, his brand Asmara grew from an unknown and unheard brand to a proudly Singaporean and food scientist curated brand that uniquely combined our local multicultural heritage elements. Asmara was awarded 'Best Premium Tea Brands' In Singapore For 2021. It was also awarded CLEO Body Award 2018 and CLEO Hall of Fame Award 2018. Currently, Asmara has seven award-winning health products. He will be launching a new series of edible cosmetics (food grade) using Singapore-based ingredients.
Ramesh has also co-developed Simha Infusion with Nilu Tea. A confident % of Simha Tea’s profits will benefit Emerging Hope Lanka, a non-profit organisation aiming to empower and educate women from low-income families. Emerging Hope Lanka is a non-governmental organisation dedicated to women’s education and empowerment.
As a food scientist, Ramesh has worked for more than seven years in product development, herbalism, nutrition research, and glycemic index while developing more than 40 functional food products.
He has also lectured and tutored local diploma students in “Food Chemistry” and “Biochemistry & Physiology for Nutrition” during his employment with Temasek Polytechnic. He is currently an invited speaker/mentor at Massey University, Temasek Polytechnic, Republic Polytechnic, and MediaCorp.
Ramesh graduated with a Bachelor (Hons.) and Master of Food Technology (Dist.) from Massey University (New Zealand) and a Diploma in Food Science and Nutrition from Temasek Polytechnic. He has co-authored a book about "Functionality of Non-starch Polysaccharides" in “Functional Foods and Dietary Supplements”.
Ramesh and his products/work/research have been awarded: "First Prize Award for SIFST Symposium", "Massey University Best Practical Work Award 2012", and "Innovative Food Product Concept Award 2007”.
He is also the founder of social media's largest food science and nutrition platforms: "Food Myths Page" and "Food Science, Technology & Nutrition Group" with more than 66000 members worldwide. Ramesh is a recognised and professional member (MNZIFST) of The New Zealand Institute of Food Science and Technology.
