Early on in my career, when my organization was in the aftermath of a transformation, I almost quit. Fueled by frustration and stress, I found myself on the precipice of walking out of the office and never coming back. Had I done so, I would have become another statistic. Yet another Hispanic male departed unable to handle the change. Top talent voluntarily resigning during a time of significant organizational shift. Another victim that was unable to cope with the demands of corporate culture.
But I didn’t. Instead, I woke up one day and decided to view those feelings as a signal that I was sitting in a moment of opportunity.
An opportunity to transform that intuition, that feeling into something better. To choose every day to do something, say something, behave in some way that would move the needle of my work forward. I didn’t know it at the time, but I was cultivating a teachable strategy to inspire anyone to become passionate about change, to find their unique power of resilience during turbulent times.
Today, I help organizations & CEO’s disrupt systems of inefficiency. Through a practical and repeatable framework, I show them how they can transform their organization from surviving change to thriving through change. Leveraging the unique lessons I've learned from the inside out – literally! I have published more than 275 thought-leadership articles and regarded as the go-to source on Hispanic management, leadership, careers, and fundraising industry. I have written for media including Hispanic Executive, Latino Magazines, and Success, and have been featured in Univision and Telemundo. I’ve been asked to speak at Coca-Cola, Google, and the University of California.
I am the Founder along with my lovely wife, Kimberly Magaña, of Latino Professionals™, Latina Professionals™, and Latinx Professionals™. With an amazing leadership team, together, we are focused on building the world's largest community of Latino, Latina, and Latinx.
On my day to day I am responsible for all aspects of funding & communications at the Emphysema Foundation of America and Breathe Southern California. In that capacity, I oversee a staff of nine and work directly with the CEO and a 17 member board.
