With fifteen years of being a dynamic activist for the LGBTQI+ community in India, ten years of working in different projects in Indian cinema and independent media, Kalki Subramaniam is known for her powerful and innovative visual projects through art, films, literature and performances which have a great impact in bringing change in the society.

She is the first transgender actor who played a leading role in Indian Cinema (Narthaki). She has also done a lead role in the art film ‘The Lone Wolf’ and was featured in a very honorable role in A.R Murugadas’s feature film ‘Sarkar’ in which actor Vijay played the lead role. She has made twelve documentary films and authored two books on her activism.

Kalki is also the founder of Sahodari Foundation, an organization that empowers the underprivileged transgender community. She is the author of two books and is the recipient of several awards for her activist, art, performance and writing. Find more about Kalki Subramaniam on her official website.
