Purin 🏞 ภูริน, which roughly translates to “water that comes from the mountain,” emerges as a soothing voice representing the contemporary art and design scenes in Northern Thailand and Northern California. On top of being a contemporary artist and an avid art collector himself, he is a practitioner and an educator in mindfulness, a topic with which he discusses in many of his art pieces.

The Phanichphant collection of rare lacquerware and textiles, as well as Purin’s own work have been exhibited in galleries, museums, and institutions across the U.S., Japan, India, Thailand, and Iceland. Purin holds a BFA in Industrial Design and Human-Computer Interaction from Carnegie Mellon University, and an MFA in Product Design from Stanford University. Prior to calling himself a full-time artist/collector, he worked as a principal product designer at IDEO San Francisco. He has taught various courses in Visual Thinking and Design Thinking at Stanford University, General Assembly, Chiang Mai University, and UC Berkeley, where he is currently a Design Fellow.

สติ project aims to promote a more mindful society by creating messages reminding its citizens to be mindful of Oneself and One another.

The project co-opts advertising mechanisms of the political system. Like a flower bomb but for modern cities: stickers, posters, banners, and merchandise are pasted not only in a street art fashion, but as paid billboards, television, and internet ads.
