Formerly a senior scientist at EPA, a science adviser to Congress, and a faculty member at Cornell University, I focused on risk, security, disaster, health, and environmental policy. I also served as member of a few Intelligence Community (IC) science advisory committees including Medea and BioChem2020, and for many years co-chaired the US Civil Applications Committee which deals with scientific research uses of remotely sensed intelligence data by academic and non IC civilian government scientists. I’m currently writing a book about a unique island in the Florida Keys, and its tie to to the history of medicine.
